Technical Notice – White DNGs captured with Avata 360

We have received several reports from our users that some panoramas stitched from DJI Avata 360 DNG images appear completely white.

Unfortunately, the root cause appears to be a firmware issue in the Avata 360 that can occasionally result in corrupt DNG files. When these files are opened in Photoshop, Camera Raw, or Lightroom, they are severely overexposed. However, the embedded JPEG previews are not affected.

Some users have reported that switching the camera to manual mode and/or selecting a shutter speed slower than 1/6400 sec, may reduce or eliminate the occurrence of the problem. However, further testing is needed to confirm this.

As the issue appears to originate from the drone firmware, we encourage affected users to contact DJI Support directly and report the problem.

There is also an additional discussion about this issue in the Avata 360 Official Facebook group.
